Looking for a professional caregiver with experience caring one on one for someone living with dementia. If you enjoy eating out, going to concerts, museums or sporting events and having conversation this could be a great role for you. Special consideration will be given to someone who had previous role as an activities person at a facility but may not have done one on one in the home. Preference given to individuals who commute 25 min or less to our location just north of the old PV Mall.
Care is for my 89-year-old mom who is living with Alzheimer's. Mom needs someone who is compassionate and kind who can be a great listener. She loves to be complimented and for you to genuinely be her friend. She isn’t the older lady who is thankful when you help her across the street. Rather she is very mobile, independent and proud. Your job is to be her friend and keep her safe, free from pain and engaged.
I pay for all activities and meals and provide a vehicle for caregiver use during shift. Hours could increase due to needs and desires of the caregiver and the family. Your day could be coming to sit with mom on her front patio to have a conversation, listen to music or laugh at her jokes. You could spend your shift taking her to eat and to thrift shops or bargain hunting or an event. Most activities are within 3-6 miles of my home unless you're going to see the Diamondbacks, Mercury, spring training, concerts, museums or other fun event that she enjoys.
Applicants must have deep understanding and great use of therapeutic fibbing and the art of redirecting.
This current position is for Saturday and Sundays and fill in. Hours are 2-10p on Saturday and Sunday. If interested this person could also be back up for other shifts. Pay is $25-35 per hour based on experience and match to moms needs. Please include a cover letter summarizing your experience working with Alzheimer’s and other dementia clients.
