The o pportunity
Adobe Design is looking for a Director of Design for Spectrum, Adobe’s design system. You will lead a group of outstanding design systems problem-solvers and drive one of the most well-respected design systems in the world! You’ll partner closely with leaders from design, product, and engineering to build high-quality experiences at scale across many dozens of products. You will be at the center of all product development at Adobe and play a central role in building our next generation of products.
What you’ll do

Coach and mentor designers, hire and attract talent to the team, and cultivate an environment where the designers grow, learn , and do their best work.

Build a collaborative culture and encourage deep partnership with cross-functional teams, setting a high bar for design craft, and define and implement design strategy across releases on multiple platforms.

Lead the Spectrum team through strategy, creative direction, and collaboration with product teams and other partners.

Provide a strong system design perspective, crafting scalable models which improve the quality and set the future direction for all Adobe experiences.

Collaborate across product areas to diplomatically advocate for the Spectrum Design system, exploring new product opportunities, promoting standards, and integrating feedback and changes into design system as appropriate.

Be part of a larger team covering horizontal aspects of product design for the entire Adobe portfolio, including brand, icons, content, illustration, animation, and our public presence. This is a fun t eam full of exceptionally talented people doing exciting and impressive work.

W hat You’ll Need to Succeed:
Deep knowledge, passion, and practical experience producing inclusive, accessible, beautiful, multi-platform design systems at scale.

High design craft and experience in multiple design fields (UX, UI, design systems, prototyping) and prior work demonstrating a strong design process, clear insights, and problem solving.

Experience building and nurturing an inclusive and empowering environment for a design team to do innovative and impactful work .

Experience delivering high-quality experiences in close partnership with engineering , product management, and executive stakeholders .

Excellent oral and written communication skills and ability to articulate design strategy through well-crafted, strategic presentations.

Embody a learner and mentor mentality; curiosity and ongoing self-education in the field of design systems.

Experience in design operations across a matrixed organization and governing a design system at scale.

Adobe Design creates tools that amplify the world’s ability to create and communicate. We’re a global team of designers, researchers, prototypers , content strategists, program managers, and more who work across Adobe’s three product lines: Creative Cloud, Document Cloud, and Experience Cloud.
Our compensation reflects the cost of labor across several U.S. geographic markets, and we pay differently based on those defined markets. The U.S. pay range for this position is $146,300 -- $295,500 annually. Pay within this range varies by work location and may also depend on job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. Your recruiter can share more about the specific salary range for the job location during the hiring process.

At Adobe, for sales roles starting salaries are expressed as total target compensation (TTC = base + commission), and short-term incentives are in the form of sales commission plans. Non-sales roles starting salaries are expressed as base salary and short-term incentives are in the form of the Annual Incentive Plan (AIP).

In addition, certain roles may be eligible for long-term incentives in the form of a new hire equity award.
