A position has become available for a FIXED TERM for a Trainee Banana Ripener at Fyffes Tropical at our Newly built, state of the art Distribution centre in Balbriggan. This hands-on role is suited to a decisive logical thinker with a strong desire to consistently achieve outstanding results. Reporting to the Ripening Manager, the role involves working within a small team of Banana Ripeners who provide customer satisfaction.
The candidate must be prepared to work hard in this key front-line role and be able to work under pressure.
MAIN RESPONSIBILITIES:
Ÿ Ripening the correct volume of Bananas of the required type to meet customer sales and specification daily.
Ÿ Control of stock and allocation and management of product into production.
Ÿ Supervision & Management of personnel moving fruit through warehouse, green intake and into production.
Ÿ Record all observations and changes to ripening conditions.
Ÿ Ensure that the working area is safe, tidy and complies with H&S requirements.
Ÿ Full understanding and operation of the SAP system.

OTHER INFORMATION:
Ÿ Full training will be given although experience in the banana or other fresh produce industry an advantage.
Ÿ Assist with any other duties competent in carrying out in line with the business needs.
Ÿ The ideal candidate should be self motivated, very flexible and a good team player.
Ÿ The role involves lifting heavy boxes (21kg) repetitively in confined spaces to inspect fruit.
Ÿ Flexibility will be required in terms of shift pattern and hours worked, to meet the daily demands of the business.
Ÿ The role will involve working Bank Holidays and weekends as per shift pattern.
Ÿ Must be able to transport themselves to and from work easily at various times of the day.
