Logistics Supervisor - Cape Town HQ [South Africa]


 

Responsibilities:
  • Facilitate the implementation and support of an industry standard for VSC/DRM across the entire bakeries supply chain.
  • Evaluating and optimizing the process in line with business requirements.
  • Provide guidance for policies and procedures for outbound distribution.
  • Monitoring and ensuring compliance of the highest standards and performance.
  • Mobilizing an effective group of distribution superusers at business unit level, mentor and train the users.
  • Ensures that distribution and supporting staff are engaged in the continuous improvement and performance of the route compliance and tracking to service all customers on time and cost effectively.
  • Effectively monitor and track the route compliance across BU’s.
  • Highlight and escalate the daily DRM management KPI’s to the BU’s.
  • Customer hit rate 95%
  • Planned routes (routes assigned) 95%
  • Unit uptime (tracking) 95%
  • On Time Departure at gate 80%
  • Sequence compliance 60% (not measured yet)
  • Drivers assigned 100%

  • Effectively monitor and track the missed customers and provide dialy feedback.
  • Evaluate the on time at customer, specifically for national customers.
  • Review the customer hit rate provided by DRM and escalate transgressions of the modern trade customers to management i.e. WW, SC, P&P, Spar etc.
  • Highlight and escalate any significant and unresolved variances of the KPI’s.
  • Review the weekly variances and add commentary for DRM KPI’s and ensure it is followed up by the BU’s.
  • Prepare a monthly KPI report for the bakeries MBR meeting.
  • Responsible for tracking the route to market and the execution of the spatial plan:
  • Identification of unprofitable or under performing routes.
  • Overlay of the spatial plan and identification white spaces that can be explored.
  • Evaluate the adjacent routes and service levels to establish if all customers are serviced and possible balancing customers on the route to improve service.
  • Evaluate the adherence to route planning and sequencing.
  • Analyze the routes for possible savings.
  • Validate the reasons provided for unplanned kilometers and where necessary confirm the feedback by analyzing the vehicle tracking.
  • Analyze and provide detail for the monthly logistics review meetings held with the bakeries.
  • Responsible for the DRM/VSC system.
  • Monitor the service levels between DRM/VSC on behalf of Sasko Bakeries.
  • Ensure that service levels in terms of vehicle tracking are achieved.
  • Perform master data health checks i.e. geo fencing, delivery time slots, time at customer.
  • Review the data provided by the BU’s for accuracy and the compliance to standard.
  • Managing and athourising payments for the VSC managed service, route planning, vehicle tracking and intergration services.
  • Routine tasks:
  • Provide backup coverage including after hours, or weekends as required.
  • Assist the BU’s with the route bulk customer to SAP customer. conversion.
  • Project manage the collection and plotting of all customer geocodes.
  • Manage training and training needs analysis for all bakeries, depots and IDC users.
  • Visit bakeries and bread distribution centers to evaluate standards and provide guidance on an ongoing basis.
  • Assist with new plant or route implementations.
  • Review the SCSG route profitability reports and draw the comparitve DRM route performance. Consolidate the information for management review.
  • Route management and compliance - 114 Dc’s, 1213 Routes, 60282 Customers, 1628 vehicles (tracking)

Qualifications:
  • At least 5 years previous route planning experience within FMCG environment.
  • Excellent knowledge of route planning and tracking software.
  • Excellent communication, organisational and planning skills.
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills.
  • Good knowledge and understanding of ERP systems in particular SAP.
  • Strong Excel skills is essential.
  • Excellent attention to detail.
  • Experience of working to tight deadlines and making own decisions to manage tasks.
  • A good team player that is flexible to help with department and company needs.
  • Good understanding of change management principals.
