FGDP Dental Assistant [United States]


 Incumbent functions as a Dental Assistant (DA) chairside assistant in the UCLA Faculty Group Dental Practice (FGDP). The FGDP is a dental practice with more than 25 faculty general dentists and specialists. Responsibilities include performing all (DA) duties as allowed by the Dental Board of California to include general dentistry, endodontics, oral and implant surgery, fixed and removable prosthodontics, pediatrics, periodontics and orthodontics. Incumbent will perform other clinical support activities as requested by supervisor.

Required/Preferred

Working knowledge of current dental terminology, materials, equipment and procedures related to general dentistry, endodontics, oral and implant surgery, orthodontics, fixed and removable prosthodontics, pediatrics and periodontics.

Required

Working knowledge of principles of 4-handed dentistry.

Required

Working knowledge and ability to perform DA duties as allowed by California State law/Dental Board of California for Dental Assistants.

Required

Demonstrated English verbal communication skills to collect and relate information to patient, staff and faculty.

Required

Working knowledge of principles of infection control and sterilization procedures.

Required

Ability to organize work and set priorities to reflect relative importance of job responsibility.

Required

Ability to perform effectively under conditions of fluctuating workload.

Required

Demonstrated organizational skills to create and maintain an inventory of dental instruments, equipment and supplies in the working operatories.

Required

Ability to recognize an emergency situation and respond appropriately.

Computer skills to effectively utilize Dentrix computerized scheduling and billing system.

Preferred

Demonstrated skills to establish and maintain cooperative working relationships with faculty members, co-workers, patients and the public.

English writing skills to enter accurate information in patient electronic dental records.

Ability to work with infectious disease patients.

Required

Possession of California Radiology Certificate and ability to take radiographs.

Required

Possession of current CPR certificate.

Required

Ability to maintain consistent work schedule arriving on time as scheduled.

Demonstrated ability to establish and maintain cooperative working relationships with faculty members, co-workers and the public.

Required

Demonstrated knowledge of what constitutes confidential information and skill in maintaining confidentiality (HIPAA) with regard to sensitive patient, faculty, resident and staff information.

Ability to work Monday - Friday from 8:00 AM to 5:00 PM.
