Job Description
Do you want to get hands-on experience from one of the most beloved brands in the World?
When developing new LEGO bricks, we must comply to international legislation on product safety requirements. In the development phase, part of this involves doing virtual product safety evaluations on 3D-models. We would like to invite thesis writers with an IT relevant background into this and be part of our journey towards a smarter tool for evaluating sharp points on 3D models.
Specifically, we are seeking a project collaboration with one or more thesis writers that can help in developing a digital tool that can analyze a 3D-model and identify areas where there is an interference with specific geometry. We have a tool for this today, but we want to have a new, separate digital solution that can help us when making these evaluations. If you are looking for an internship as a part of your studies, this opportunity can be converted into an internship.
Core Responsibilities
The project will be centered around developing/programming a solution, a stand-alone software tool, that can analyze 3D-models and identify areas of concern in this specific sharp point scenario.
Working on this project you will:
Define parameters needed to do the correct evaluation of sharp points.
Develop and create/program a digital solution that can analyze 3D-models and identify sharp points.
Gather user feedback from up to 25 engineers that will use this tool in the future.
Finalize a solution where both accuracy in analyses and user experience is considered.
Along the way we will provide a sparring partner – not on the software side, as we are not a software department – for insights into the workflow where the tool is going to be used. Also, the LEGO Group will make sure the right materials are available upon project start and the candidate is welcome to facilitate user tests during the project.
